"공포의 근원, 악을 품은 인형의 저주" 쌍둥이 형제 빌과 테드는 할아버지의 유품 정리 중 오래된 원숭이 장난감을 발견한다. 심벌즈를 치는 이 원숭이 인형은 어린 시절 그들에게 공포의 대상이었지만, 이제 어른이 된 두 형제는 그것을 단순한 장난감으로 치부한다. 하지만 인형이 다시 집에 들어오자 기이한 사건들이 연이어 발생하기 시작한다. 어린 시절의 트라우마가 되살아나고, 원숭이 인형을 둘러싼 끔찍한 비밀이 드러나며 형제의 삶은 걷잡을 수 없는 혼돈 속으로 빠져드는데...
